APH3G select ebalta RIM MG453GF as their material of choice to fulfill their customers demanding application.

APH3G Ltd, based in Benfleet, Essex were tasked by Nick Bateman, the founding Director of Driving Passion Manufacturing Limited to provide a solution for the design, tooling and production of a rear diffuser that had high impact and strength requirements for the demanding application of an aftermarket Audi component.

APH3G had seen samples provided by ebalta Distribution Ltd and were immediately able to offer MG453GF as the right material for the project to the client.

MG453GF is a glass filled RIM system that was processed using APH3G’s metering equipment and offers high rigidity and impact resistance while having a high temperature resistance of 108 Degrees C.

Both large and small scale components can be processed on APH3G’s 2 RIM machines comfortably and tooling with ebalta’s tooling board range is produced on one of their 7 CNC machines with 5 Axis capability.

APH3G’s Director, Chris Read said “Having already used ebaboard 140 extensively for previous RIM tools and jigs and fixture tooling and knowing how stable the board is, it was an easy choice for us to make in selecting the tooling board for the customers project.”

The ebalta MG453GF RIM material, with a 20% glass content flowed into every tight area in the tool with ease and was very easy to process with our equipment” Chris added “we are focused on providing our customers with the right material for the application at hand and the ebalta range of tooling and component materials enable us to offer a solution for applications in this and many other fields”.

ebaboard 140 is a high density polyurethane board material with low thermal expansion and a fine surface structure making it an ideal material for semi production run RIM Tools.

The ebaboard 140 can be supplied in standard board sizes or can be offered as a cast to size solution whereby the customer provides a 3D data file and the material is cast 10 mm oversize thus eliminating joint lines and reduce machining time.

Driving Passion Manufacturing Ltd.’s Nick Bateman said “We are delighted with the product that has been manufactured with such high level of accuracy and surface finish and we will certainly be looking to employ more of the ebalta RIM systems onfuture applications.”

All the materials for the tooling and the finished component were supplied by ebalta Distribution Ltd who have an extensive range of RIM material available from UL94 V0 and 5VA flammability rated to semi rigid and impact resistant. ebalta’s highly trained staff also provided technical advice in both material selection and processing of the RIM materials.

ebalta also stock a wide range of materials for a variety of other applications including, Foundry Tooling, Composites and Automotive markets. If you have a project that you would like to discuss, please contact the ebalta Distribution sales team who will be more than happy to meet and discuss how their range can assist you.

Paul Reynolds Managing Director at ebalta Distribution states “We have an extensive range of products and offer a great technical service to all our customers. It’s great to see that all come together and see the quality of components being produced by the team at APH3G.”
