Client – Construction Plant Manufacturer
Project – Lighting Tower Cover And Service Panels
Commencement – February 2006
Program Duration – 2006 To Date
In 2006, APH3G, was approached by a company to attend a meeting to discuss a project that they had lined up. With all the information gathered, APH3G proposed that the fibreglass route would be the best option for them, in order to create sturdy lighting tower covers and service panels.
The first step was to receive the prototype trailer unit and DRGS to show the intended internal package of components.
Taking templates from DRGS, profiled sections were made in foam board and assembled to create the cover shape which was to be used as the core for the pattern for the series of production of covers.
Within the mould tool, reinforcing and support brackets were required to ensure continuity of the hinge pivot position whilst being overlaid with fibreglass matting and resin.
The finished component included all hinges, gas struts, door seals and reflectors which were free issued by the client and supplied to APH3G. The reason for this was so that the client could have the finished component ready for the assembly to the trailers. This was the case until July 2009.
Since July 2009, APH3G were asked to undertake the role as the full service supplier, this entailed the purchasing and project coordination of all parts from five different suppliers. Examples of this are laser cut metal brackets which are bent and welded, gas struts, rubber door seals, tail light reflectors and all fasteners.
The client remains extremely satisfied by the price, timing and quality.
